How To Clean Your Hat

First of all, you´ll need to gather:

- Soft bristle brush

- Damp sponge

- Kettle

- Heavy books

Manipulate your hat by hand

If your Drifter Hat has lost its shape or has become dented then use your hands around the inside of the crown to work the hat as far back to its original shape as you can.

Remove dirt with a soft brush

It´s important that you use a soft bristle brush which will dislodge loose dirt, hair or lint but won´t damage the wool. Go gently until you´ve removed as much as you can from the crown and brim.

Clean deeper with a sponge

Dampen your sponge but don´t get it too wet. Use a corner to tackle any light stains or remove any grime that your brush can´t reach. Heavy stains like oil might not come out but they can add to the character of your hat if you like the working cowboy look!

Give it a final steam

Use the steam from a kettle or iron (just on a steam setting, don´t iron directly on to the wool). The steam will soften the wool and allow you to manipulate the shape further and remove any little dents and creases.

Get your brim back in shape

After steaming, lay your hat on a flat surface and use some heavy coffee table books to flatten out the brim overnight.
